Teaching History Using Internet Technology
 

Course:  U.S. History II
Grade Level:  High School Seniors

Objective:  Students will enhance their understanding of history by using the Internet to search for sources as part of their research paper requirements.

Specific Objective:  Students will choose a specific event of U.S. History II.  Using the Internet, students will search and use web sites to gather information about their subject that can be a source cited in their research paper.  Students will create a history web site.

Materials:
Computer and Printer with Internet access

Procedures:

Students will choose a topic to research on the Internet.
Students will search web sites and print information that pertains to their topic.
Students will create a portfolio of information on their topic and use it to complete their research paper.  Students will complete a worksheet to critique and recommend specific web sites. 
Students will present and share their recommendations via the web site.

Activity:  Students will demonstrate their understanding of the topic they have chosen by researching on the Internet.  Students will creating a portfolio of information from the web sites, complete a worksheet about their recommendations and contribute to the class web site.

Evaluation:  Students will be graded on the participation in discussions, effort and final product.
