These are the three key foundations of PDK and its membership; Research, Service and Leadership in education. ABOUT Phi Delta Kappa

PDK is an international professional association in education, dedicated to the three foundations of research, service and leadership. PDK supports the concept, ideals and institutions of public education. The Jersey Shore Chapter, hosted by Monmouth University, was chartered in 1977.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

There are many benefits to becoming a PDK member. Your membership fee provides access to a variety of information, services and discounts (view key member benefits here) and supports important educational work. By joining the Jersey Shore Chapter, you gain a connection with fellow educators from the region and join a network of dedicated professionals who share concern and ideas for supporting quality education in our area.

HOW TO APPLY

After Reviewing the following requirements and options, select the appropriate membership path and either contact PDK International at their website to apply directly for membership, or contact the Jersey Shore Chapter VP for Membership to discuss the Chapter Membership option. Graduate or Undergraduate students thinking about this latter option should first contact a Monmouth Faculty Member (who is also a PDK member) to request their sponsorship.

WHO CAN APPLY

• Professional educators in all areas and at all levels
• Graduate students
• Individuals in education-related fields
• Student teachers
• Undergraduates enrolled in a program leading to teacher certification

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• A bachelor's degree is required for all applicants except undergraduate students who are enrolled in a program leading to teacher certification.

MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS AND FEES
Direct Membership
Annual Fee $85

• Open to professional educators, graduate students, student teachers, and individuals in education-related fields.
• Includes all member services and benefits except chapter affiliation, the right to vote, and the right to hold a PDK office.
• This membership may be converted to a chapter-affiliated membership at any time upon request.

Chapter-Affiliated Membership
Annual Fee $10-$20

• Open to professional educators, graduate students, student teachers, and individuals in education-related fields who desire local chapter affiliation.
• Membership is based upon chapter approval and an initiation ceremony that includes a one-time initiation fee beyond the annual fee.
• Includes all member services and benefits, voting privileges, and the right to hold PDK volunteer leadership positions.
• Membership may be transferred from one chapter to another at any time upon request.

Direct Undergraduate Membership
Annual Fee $42.50

• Open to undergraduate students enrolled in a program leading to teacher certification.
• Includes all member services and benefits except chapter affiliation, the right to vote, the right to hold a PDK office, and services designated for post graduates.
• This membership may be converted to a chapter-affiliated membership at any time provided the chapter accepts undergraduate students.

Chapter-Affiliated Undergraduate Membership
Annual Fee varies and is one-half the regular chapter fee

• Open to undergraduate students enrolled in a program leading to teacher certification.
• Includes all member services and benefits except voting privileges, the right to hold a PDK office, and other services designated for postgraduates.
• Membership is offered by selected chapters
