Battle of Princeton
1776-Takes place on January 2, and is part of the Christmas Campaign
While British forces led by Cornwallis wait to counter attack Trenton on January 2, 1776, American troops move around the British forces secretly
Washington led his troops on back roads heading toward Princeton
Some American soldiers stayed back tricking and stalling the British by making them think the troops were still there
These few soldiers kept campfires burning, made noises, and kept up appearances at the site in Trenton
On the American troops journey, the roads froze making it easy for men and cannon to travel
American troops came upon the British forces at Princeton and charged- forcing the British back
British took shelter in Nassau Hall at the Princeton University while the building was being blown up by cannons
The British eventually surrendered
Americans:
40 men killed and wounded
British:
lost 86 men
200 captured
