The Calvary Baptist church was founded in 1895. Before the building was finally commissioned, the Congregants have used various sites for worship. The church is reputed for bringing family together especially during the Civil Rights era. It provided food and clothes for the poor. The church is located in Red Bank.

The Pilgrim Baptist Church was established in 1896. The Congregants have worshiped at different sites, including a private house, before land was granted for the church's construction.
    Count Basie, the jazz master, was believed to have been one of the founders of Pilgrim Baptist Church. The church provided shelter, food, and clothes for the needy. It also participated in the Civil Rights Movement organized by the local members of the church
